Ticket sales for the IPL 2021 in the UAE will commence from September 16. Cricket fans have expressed their joy over the decision to let them into the stadium after a long gap and watch the action live. Mumbai fans get ready with posters while Chennai fans are all set to whistle their team to success during the first match on September 19.
Dubai International Stadium, which will host the first match ready to allow spectators again
It will be back to the ‘good old days’ when cricket fever used to grip the UAE when international tournaments were held here. The second leg of IPL 14 will welcome fans back to the stadium. The VIVO Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021, which resumes with a clash between five-time champions and current title holders Mumbai Indians and three-time IPL champions Chennai Super Kings at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on September 19, 2021, can be watched from the stadium by cricket lovers in the UAE.
Fans can purchase tickets from September 16, 2021, for the remainder of the tournament on the official website www.iplt20.com. Tickets can also be purchased on PlatinumList.net
All three venues, Dubai, Sharjah and Abu Dhabi, are ready for the event, though only limited seating will be available keeping in mind Covid protocols and the UAE government regulations. Journalists are also being accredited to report the matches from all venues.
This will be a special occasion for fans in the UAE because it is after a long gap that they will be allowed to return to the stadium. Strict Covid-19 restrictions had prevented people from gathering, which in turn resulted in controlling the spread of Covid in the UAE. Some Mumbai fans have started preparing banners egging their players, and are also busy digging out the team jerseys that they had worn when the IPL was last held here in 2014 for the first time. Back then, fans had thronged the stadiums and made the event a colossal success. Chennai fans are delighted that they can indulge in ‘whistle podu’, which is also their official slogan.

Dr TC Satish
Dr TC Satish, Specialist Dermatologist, Unicare Medical Centre, an ardent cricket fan, said: “It’s great news that fans are allowed once again to watch their favourite teams in action, but the onus is on the fans to ensure all precautions so that Covid is kept at bay.”
Ramessh Ramakrishnann with Ravichandran Ashwin
Ramessh Ramakrishnann, Mentor, Leap Sports, who has flown in Ravichandran Ashwin to conduct coaching camps in the UAE says: “It’s wonderful to know that IPL in the UAE is going to happen with fans in the stadium (even though with limited capacity). This is going to be fun and generate enormous amounts of vibrant energy with fans cheering for their local teams. This should be a huge psychological motivating factor for the players and IPL franchises as well. Kudos to the UAE!!!
Gopal Jasapara
Gopal Jasapara, Head coach of G Force Cricket Academy and Managing Director of Cricketlovers.com said: “This is excellent news for cricket lovers in the UAE. This is something people are expecting to happen. This will boost not only the fans but also participants as well. Franchises will be happy to see the followers. The real noise from the crowd will lift the morale of the players as well. Let the fun begin. We will also be bringing all IPL news through our website cricketlovers.com.”
Uma Santosh
Uma Santosh, a lecturer from Sharjah, remarked: “Cricket is not about just losing or winning. It’s about enjoying too, and nothing like watching it live from the stadium. I believe that a cricket ground is worthless with only the players and umpires; what makes it special is the mad fans too.”
Sudhakaran Nair
Sudhakaran Nair, COO of a company in Dubai, who has followed every edition of the IPL closely, says: “Fans at IPL is the next big thing after visitors going for Expo 2020. Fans will rock the IPL. Game on! Let’s play will be the mantra and magic for cricket fans assembled from all over the world in the UAE. Hats off to the UAE’s vision on vaccines. IPL will bring back the good cheer of festivities and joy.”
Neeil Ojha
Neeil Ojha, renowned commentator, radio jockey and strength and conditioning coach, remarked: “ Being obedient has paid dividends. Here in the UAE we have followed all protocols to the T and have been rewarded with top cricket tournaments like the IPL and T20 World Cup to be hosted in our backyard. Being a commentator, I have been lucky to watch some games from the stadiums, even when spectators were not allowed. And now with the news that we can go to the stadiums and watch our cricketers live, I am extremely happy for every cricket fan. Back to happy days!”
