Stuart Law, as new head coach of Bangla Tigers, will be backed by Shaun Tait, who once bowled regularly at 155kmph, as their bowling coach. Former wicketkeeper-batsman Paul Nixon is their batting coach. Law carries with him the experience of having coached Sri Lanka, West Indies and Bangladesh teams in the past. Bangla Tigers have retained UAE’s consistent performer Chirag Suri, West Indies hard hitters Andre Fletcher and Johnson Charles, Sri Lanka’s Isuru Udana and Afghanistan’s Qais Ahmed.

Let’s Go Hunt is the Bangla Tigers’ slogan, and they have launched their hunt for the T10 title with renewed vigour. Former Australia cricketer Stuart Law has been appointed as their new head coach to shape the squad for the Abu Dhabi T10 set to commence from November 19, 2021 at the Zayed Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhabi.
Paul Nixon, the former England wicketkeeper batsman, as batting coach, will work to strengthen their batting, while former Australia pacer Shaun Tait will guide them to sharpen their bowling attack.

Gearing forward with renewed energy and a professional approach, this team has been appointing specialists in all areas who are capable for guiding them towards their goal. The team composition too is being worked out with an eye to emerge as winners this time.
Former South Africa captain Faf du Plessis had already been made the icon and captain of franchise. They have retained West Indies’ hard hitters Andre Fletcher and Johnson Charles, Sri Lanka’s new-ball bowler Isuru Udana and Afghanistan’s mystery spinner Qais Ahmed. UAE’s Chirag Suri, who is well familiar with the conditions here and has been in tremendous form this year, has also been retained.

So what is Law’s take on the new role? “I have enjoyed my time as coach around the world and have learnt from all my roles. Anything that is new and is innovative like T10 cricket always has an automatic appeal. From a coaching perspective, it presents new challenges to test yourself in a world-class environment. I am looking forward to joining forces with some of the world’s best players for Bangla Tigers. I share the enthusiasm of our team owners in building a world-class franchise.”
Nixon, expressing his happiness at being associated with the franchise, said: “It is a privilege and a honour to be working with such a professional franchise. I cannot wait to get started in my new role.”
Tait, who will join the franchise after a stint with the Afghanistan team during the T20 World Cup, said: “It’s an exciting challenge and I’ve always wanted to give back in any way I can. The experience I have, my knowledge of the game, and my overall organisational skills will be the key aspects as we try to develop a winning team culture.”
Bangla Tigers owner Mohammad Yasin Chowdhury, who is ensuring that some of the best professionals are around for his team, said: “It is terrific to have a world-class cricketer and coach like Stuart (Law) as our head coach. He is a great addition to our squad because he comes with a fantastic track record. I am certain that we will have a perfect finish to our campaign this time around.”

On appointing Nixon, he said: “Paul (Nixon) is a dynamic, dedicated, passionate and motivational coach, who will lead the cricketers with the fighting spirit and be able to maintain a positive approach in the dressing room during the match even at crucial stages of the game. He is the perfect coach for us for the race to the championship.”
On Shaun Tait’s appointment and retaining of in-form players, he said, said: “At Bangla Tigers we have always been closely associated with cricket. The presence of a dynamic personality like Shaun will add a lot of depth to the squad because we have some terrific players whom we have in our line-up like Faf (du Plessis), Andre Fletcher, Johnson Charles, Isuru (Udana), Qais (Ahmed) and Chirag (Suri) amongst a whole host of others. I am certain that we will do well this season.”
The stage has now been set for the hunt for the title.
