Dubai. Martin Guptill has recovered from the toe injury that he sustained after being hit by a yorker from Pakistan pacer Haris Rauf. Guptill is nicknamed “Two Toes” as he has only two toes on his left foot. At the age of 13, his foot was crushed by a forklift. His injury evoked a discussion before the match and someone asked as to how could Rauf pick precisely on the remaining two toes to injure him? When it was announced that he would be in the eleven, there was a remark that he has tip toed past his injury and kept his place in the playing eleven.

Did Kohli listen to a reporter who shocked him?
During the post-match press conference after India’s match against Pakistan, a reporter asked Indian skipper Virat Kohli whether he would drop Rohit Sharma and play Ishan Kishan instead. Kohli was stunned by the question and laughed at the reporter. When Ishan came out to open the innings in place of Sharma against New Zealand, there was talk in the press box that the reporter who had asked that question was not off the mark. “Did that question give Kohli the idea to get Ishan to open the innings after Suryakumar Yadav had suffered a lower back spasm?” a fellow scribe asked. This was only the third instance since 2013 that Sharma wasn’t opening the innings for India in a T20 International.

Ish Sodhi, who picked the price wickets of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, was born in Ludhiana.
